On this week’s episode of the debrief, Dominic and I discuss the new Kansas church consecrated by the ultra-traditionalist Society of St. Pius X over the weekend. We discuss YouTuber (and apparently now a presidential candidate) Taylor Marshall’s flirtation with the SSPX, as well as recent media statements by bishops speaking favorably of the SSPX.

We discuss and provide links to (see show notes below) resources for Catholics who are considering the claims of the SSPX, in case you or a friend is interested. All of the people we discussed are faithful Catholics who happen to be on the conservative side of the spectrum. They are faithful to the Magisterium and are in full communion with the Holy Father and the Church.

Next, we talked about my recent article on the sex abuse crisis, “Assassins of the Soul.” This crisis is destroying lives and is causing incredible damage to the Church and its credibility. We offer our thoughts about healing these wounds.

Finally, we discuss the ecumenical impact of Pope Francis’s announcement that the 21 Martyrs have been recognized as saints by the Catholic Church.
